I was going to buy a bottle at delivery and store it in the cargo bay, until the parts guys brought it out. That is one goofy shaped bottle (think translucent bowling pin) with a high tech filler connector. I couldn't figure out where it would conveniently fit in the X5, so I gave it a miss. I'll probably pick a bottle up when I get the oil and filter tomorrow. I figure these exhaust fluid bottles will be diesel gear head collector items

What is it (not owning an X35d myself)? Urea? Is this something you can fill yourself or a dealer only type situation?

Thinking of upgrading to an X35d in the future, but I'm a do-it-yourself kinda guy...

You can add the urea solution yourself. Check out the owners manual (freely downloadable) to see how easy it is if you'd like.

You can add to it, but once a year it needs to be flushed and filled at the dealer...
