I made an appointment for next week.
Good luck, let us know what they find...

Good thing you leased this vehicle. I wished I had leased mine and I would still be driving it...

Did you check the oil level through the I Drive?

Yes - the oil level showed fine at first. The next day the oil lamp came on again and the level did show low on idrive. The oil consumption is consistent with my X5s. I burned a quart in 5000 miles.

Appt is Wed for the CEL again. We'll see what it is this time. I know it's leased and the dealer is only a few miles from where I work but this is getting on my nerves.

I don't blame you. My new Lexus GX 460 Premium has to go back to the dealer for a software update for the stability control after Consumer Reports put out a do not buy rating. The update takes 15 minutes, but the dealer is 2 hours each direction from my home. Lexus is going to pay for a tank of fuel, but I'm out half a day fooling around with something they should have found on their own testing.

I hope your CEL is something simple. If I had leased my X5, I would still be driving it.

Good luck,

Craig

It sounds like you just need a quart of oil?

Add mine to the CEL list

5.6K miles on my 3.5d when the engine light illuminated yesterday. I already had an appointment to replace the DVD player due to Navigation disc read errors that have occurred over the last month. SA indicates sensor replacement, and it is being shipped overnight for installation tomorrow.

Good for BMW, it only took BMW 3 months to get a sensor to my dealer.

I think I mentioned above somewhere that I had a CEL.

Here is the resolution: http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...esolution.html

Pretty painless as far as I was concerned- but I've got a great tech.

I know many ppl hate this thread as the posts aren't too specific and they are all bad news....but my CEL came on in my x about a week ago. Manual says emissions blah blah...I have yet to make an appointment because the dealer I bought from was recently sold...and I honestly do not have the time to go with without loaner (as in take it to another dealer). I leased my x5 so I am not terribly concerned.... should I be? If something goes sour will they say "hey you drove around for a week with the CEL on!"

A week with the check engine light on isn't a major problem in most cases. Some dealers take that long to get you an appointment.

On the other hand, you should get it checked out. If the problem worsens, you could end up with reduced engine power mode, or consequential damage that will make it more of a job to fix it. It is a drag taking it in, but it is a drag waiting for a tow truck on the side of the road as well.
