There has been speculation that the 35d has glo plugs and that they are activated every time you open the driver's door. The facts are that you can hear a high pitch sound every time you open the driver's door. This sound is accompanied with a significant drop in voltage which goes away as soon as the sound stops (a minute or so). This may or may not be associated with glo plugs. But I would check to see if you can hear the high pitch sound just in case.

Edit: My bad Apparently you can get a delay if the engine is cold enough.
