That is what I am talking about: Picture "1" outside in sunny california :-)

Picture "2" from 90 degree and no "glow" at daylight. This will always uncovers the aftermarket solution! :-(

How would I shut off the amber light on the side of the lights if I buy the angel eyes? It won't look as good if that amber turning light is always on.

You need someone to do an amber light delete for you. Or buy the cable and do it yourself - search the electronics sub forum for that.

I'd like to pull the trigger on a set of these for my 2008 X5. Am I right in thinking that all of these (Lux v3, Alpine and METC) are close in terms of brightness? If so, which is easiest to install? Looks like Lux to me based on a quick review of the instructions.

The Alpines are a tiny bit brighter, but the Lux are MUCH easier to install. I don't know much about the MTEC ones.

The MTEC are very easy to install. (about 10 minutes) The electronic fit right in and no cable outside. I am not sure about the LUX and Alpines but from what I read is the LUX have great support and warranty. My decision was based on the brightness of the MTEC. I was following different posts and all say that the LUX V3 (6Watt) is close but not bright like the OEM ones. When the the 12 Watt became available, it made sense for me to jump on those. I also found one with 10 Watt (the new 5 Watt Cree LED) here : H8 10 Watt LED Brenner für BMW, Angel Eyes 1er, 3er, 5er, 6er, X5, X6, Ausführung Silber

What was my second choice :-)

Thanks all - Sky - quick question - you mention 12W parts, but the link for the MTEC unit that you posted on the previous page says they are a 6W part (just like the Lux) - which parts are you seeing that are 12W?

Yeah, it is confusing :-) On the Box it show 6Wattx2 and suppose to have 6Watt per site (each bulb has 2 sites).
The other sign is that there are no 1.5 Watt Cree LED's I know off, only 1 Watt, 3 Watt and 5 Watt Led's. Every bulb has 4 LED's and It could be only 1 Watt (4 Watt total) or 3 Watt (12 Watt total) per bulb....

The US seller wrote me that those LED's are 3 Watt but run on less power. They are 12 Watt capable but only 50% power.
