Try a test to see it it is the button on the steering wheel or something else causing the problem, e.g., do the arrows work properly to move the radio stations up and down?

I know that when using the Music Collection (HD) those buttons function differently depending on how long you hold them down. You might try a quick press vs holding a couple of seconds (one "should" advance to next song and the longer should fast forward/reverse within the song).

Try selecting an album not a song then try the steering wheel button.

Another thought, I noticed that when I used the search feature to select a specific musician, I had the same experience with the steering wheel buttons. I got frustrated. I played with it to get back to the master list and back into random and now the quick press advances to another song. So, apparently the buttons function differently in each mode. I am still not sure how to manipulate within an artist vs within an album vs within a genre, etc. Clearly, it is easy to choose one for a search but I think the buttons will function differently depending on the mode.
Hopefully, someone who has mastered these controls will chime in ad clarify this for us. If not, as I get a chance to play with it, and learn what happens differently under different modes, I'll come back and share whatever I learn. London and I are heading in the same direction. |

The down arrow on the steering wheel moves to the next track.
Is there more than 1 track on the artist/playlist/whatever you're listening to?

Was playing with it a bit today (actually, just trying to get to the previous song): pressing the up arrow once started the song over. Pressing it twice (pseudo double-click) moved it back the beginning previous song. This was in CD mode playing a CD of MP3s. Didn't continue the experiment to forward or other modes but will when I have time to focus on it.

Check to see on your iPod what option your "Repeat" in your "Setting" menu is set to. "All" would be okay, but "Song" may cause what you are experiencing.
