Angry windshield washer

I am having a problem with the reservoir tank on my 07, I can fill mine and it will sit for 2 days an not lose a drop, then drive about 1 mile and the tank is empty. It is at the dealer at this time and has been since Feb. 12,and they can not find where the water is going. At this time I am not a happy camper.

The reservoir is not visible to us - is it saying empty on the computer? Perhaps a faulty sensor?

Also, how do you tell it is full... the last time I filled mine (since idrive was barking), it was just a tube that led somewhere hidden and I didn't know how much to add.

I just checked the manual and all it really mentions is that the capacity is 6.3 quarts.

There was an SIB on this. The filler neck leaks. I had mine replaced under warranty. Here is a thread.

It was filled to the top of the tube 2 or 3 times. Like I said the dealer has had it for 12 days and they are still trying to figure where the water is going. This is a CPO I just got the end of Jan. And it also needed a new steering column that I was not told about until the parts dept. called and said the part for my X5 had come in.

Ask the dealer to replace the factory tank with the new design tank. I did and it stopped the mysterious draining of fluid. I never did find out where the fluid went, no puddle on the garage floor. Probably went to the same black hole that my battery voltage is draining into!

Probably splashes out of the defective neck when it sloshes around on bumps and corners, and doesn't leak when it is parked.

Dealer called this evening and said they pulled the carpet and rear seats and found the line to the rear window was leaking and somehow draining the tank, the water was leaking inside the rear of the X. they think this may have it fixed, but want to keep it another day or two to make sure. They want me to be happy, what a joke. Now I have an X thats been leaking washer fluid inside for who knows how long.

Funny, my X has been at the dealer since 2/12, almost two weeks, for the EXACT same problem...I am driving a loaner.

Dealer is "waiting on parts."

13 days for parts? Wow. Just Wow.

I got the X back yesterday, looking at the paper work they had to remove just about everything in the interior, dash, consol, seats , carpet etc. This was to fix a leak in the hose to the rear window. This is unreal, how much of the electronics got wet and will show up at a later date? We will see.

I have the same $%^&ing problem with mine. Fluid 'disappears' into nowhere. What's worse: My wife and I dropped the car at the dealer, they fixed "a" leak, and called me to pick it up a week later. (It was in for a laundry list of repairs).

I get a ride to the dealer and drive it home. Next morning, I remember the leak, and test the washers to see if they work. Bone dry. Fill it up with fluid, they work, then do one errand (one mile round trip) and they're empty again.

Dealer says they will have to take entire interior apart to find the leak. Seats, center console, etc - basically gut the car. I'm sure there won't be an squeaks when they put it back together, eh?

The BEST part? The dealer is TWO HOURS from my house, and they don't allow their loaner cars out of the 'city'. So every trip to the dealer is AN EIGHT HOUR EXCURSION.

Meanwhile, my neighbor has a Toyota Highlander, under warranty, and the dealer drives over to pick it up for service (She didn't buy it from that dealer, either). And that Toyota dealer is right down the street from my BMW dealer - i.e. also 2 hours away.

Think I'll buy another BMW? Not under these circumstances...
