Last visit prior to factory warranty expiring
A bit about my E70; I drove my 50,000 miles in only 20 months. I do 90% highway driving and am not a spirited driver. Over this period I have had no issues and have only been to the dealer for service visits. Things to check/replace during the factory warranty period. 1) Tension Strut Bushings, if never been performed, complaint would be clunking when braking. 2) Check all Grab Handles inside the vehicle for pealing. 3) Check all woodtrim for cracks 4) Check CD/Player, Navigation System, Speakers 5) Check Seat Belt Labels for cracks 6) Check all Interior Covers, A-B-C-D pillars for cover material pealing off 7) Check battery( if original, just complain that you had to jump start the car a couple of times ) 8) Check all non-xenon bulbs for proper operation 9) Check Coolant upper and lower radiator hoses for leaks. 10) Check seat leather stitching for looseness. 11) Check Steering Wheel Airbag Emblem for etching. 12) Check Hood Roundel for flaking. -Brake pads and rotors, if original.
-Brake fluid flush and coolant flush, if you haven't already had them, though some dlrs may allege the coolant is "lifetime". Good luck on getting the dlr and tech to "check" all those things on your list. GL, mD

If you really don't have any complaints and have not had problems as you stated, I am not sure you will get much done in the inspection/fix before expriation arena. Best they will probably do is give you a wall-job.
IMO, this is why BMW schedules your inspection II for just after your warranty has expired - so the dealer can make a lot of bucks "looking" at stuff for you. With that in mind, I would go in with some specific complaints... "I don't like the way this handles in this condition," "I think this molding is showing too much wear", "it pulls to the left" and such. I was surprised how many of my complaints were fixed - (all of them) even the replacement of a bad battery - because I gave them a list of actual problems. Good luck to you.

They will probably charged for inspecting the pads and tell you there is still thickness there. Tell them you want to know precisely how many mm of pad is left on all 8 pads.
Good relation with the SA? You might toss ~$50 to him and ask him to thoroughly check the car... what's in it for them/him/the dealer? Check for any oil leaks, valve covers, seepage, etc, etc. Maybe have that ATF changed too, although they will say it is 'lifetime' or '100,000 mile', both of which are laughable... A |

The visit went surprisingly well and they took care of a few of the cosmetic items mentioned above. Non-cosmetic, included replacing of the rear brake pads and sensor. I have a call in to my SA to ask what, if anything, was done with the rotors. Shouldn't rotors, at a minumum, be resurfaced if only the pads are replaced? Are there any other questions I should be asking about what they did? Thanks everyone for the great suggestions and all of the help.

Back in the old days when our '01 was covered, the dlr did pads and rotors; thought that was std practice for dlr brake work...maybe that's changed.
Rears only? Maybe your fronts had been done before. No luck on the brake fluid R&R? Glad you got some stuff done. GL,mD |

With respect to the brake fluid, what should I "complain" about to get them to change it? Thanks for the help! monto
