I have a 2011 X5 35d that was completed on April 17 or 19. It was "released to the carrier and is awaiting transportation."

Apparently BMW has changed carriers so now there are multiple carriers and there is a delay in shipping.....

My 50i has been "completed and awaiting transportation" since April 14. I called bmw and they cannot tell me anything, stating they do not have that information. My CA told me it is due to the volcano?! I said, are you kidding me, my car is done! It needs to just be put on a train. It is a huge secret as to why finished X5s are not being shipped. I am tired of it. Have been waiting since December for my car. Originally ordered a 2010 4.8i, which took 11 weeks before production even started. That was mid march, so I cancelled it to order the 2011. Now this stupid delay. I also have a brand new mini cooper convertibel john cooper works, and had nothing but problems with it initially. BMWUSA has been horrendous for both cars.

My car is finished and was on its way to the dealership, but I asked my CA to delay it since I couldn't pick it up from the dealership until first week of June. So he intentionally changed the status on the car (he said as long as it doesn't get put on the carrier he can delay at the VPC with a "priority 4"), so that it gets delivered to the dealership 1 week prior to my pickup.

I know that dealerships don't allow test drives on sold vehicles, but I'm kinda paranoid and I didn't want the car sitting on the dealer lot for 2-3 weeks.

arjuno, I have the opposite problem. I had a 2007 Audi Q7 SUV on a 36 month lease. The lease ended March 15. I ordered the X5 in December, thinking 10 weeks was plenty of time to get it before I had to turn in my car. Its been 5 weeks since I turned in my Audi, and it looks like another 2-4 weeks. My dealer would not give me a loaner car, or do anything for me. To rent a car, a small piece of crap toyota corolla (sorry its a good car) is 1000.00 per month. I am in a bind, and the dealer does not really care, and I think BMWUSA should do something for me. But, nothing. I just have to wait. My wife drives car pools for my kids, and we need an SUV with a 3rd row. My other 2 cars are small, and one is not a daily driver. I am not very happy.

Damn man, who is your dealer? I saw that in the bimmerfest thread that your production number was 7556059, mine is 7556050, and I ordered from Nick Alexander BMW.

Hope everything works out.

I ordered it at century west BMW in North Hollywood, CA. They have actually been ok, but I think they should have given me a loaner car, as we discussed the fact that if my car comes in after my lease on my audi, that I would need a car. This was discussed in december when I gave a deposit. They said we would work it out. Then with the original delay on the 2010, and my audi being turned in, they did not come through for me. Its not the dealers fault of the delays, it is the factories, so I am not too upset with them. But I do think the dealer should do something for me for my troubles. But what? accessories, a little better price, I dont know. I guess I will have to wait and see, as I am not going to start over, and there are no other SUVs that my wife and I like.

I put a deposit on a 2011 X5 diesel that was ordered by the dealership, I faithfully called BMW everyday, as of today the website said it was at the prep center, when I actually talked to a rep they told me that the car was released to a carrier on last tuesday and they dont track it after its been released, but my CA at the dealership says that the car is still waiting to be released to the carrier.....so who knows.....
