have you checked fluid level?
Oil doesn't 'fail' in the normal sense of the word... It doesn't go bad and cause the car not to move, or to clunk, or to miss-shft. It does loose it's ability to protect other parts and THAT causes failures...It does get contaminated with grit and grim, from deteriorating friction plates, and THAT will get stuck in the valve body and cause issues. For these reasons I recommend regular fluid changes BEFORE issues appear. Once you see issues it is too late to hope a fluid change will fix it.... usually. Check the fluid level. And how hot is "really hot"??? |

when you have been on a run say 30 mins or so, the strange thing is thou if u switch the ignition off then on the problem goes away untill another 30 mins goes by garage cannot find anything wrong ecu etc.

So "30 minutes" is "normal operating temperature" in my book....
Has the garage ACTUALLY CHECKED the fluid level? Is the garage running full GT1 diagnostics for the tranny or just looking for error codes with a generic OBD computer? |

Trouble shooting cars is like medicine.
Your outcome is, unfortunately, greatly affected by the skill of the doctor/mechanic. This is true everywhere. If you do not take personal responsibility for you own health/car, you are subject to chance. Time to drill down on what they have checked, how and why.... My 2 cents. A |

While it would be a reasonable idea to check the oil level in the automatic transmission, the fact that it has more problems hot (and not cold), and that turning off the ignition temporarily resolves it, tends to suggest it isn't the oil level.
I would be asking them to do more investigation into the electronic controls for the transmission. The control box can be temperature dependent, and may have a fault.
