If you get 15mpg in a 4.8 doing a good amount of city I'm shocked.Any 3.0ers [with 20s] getting 17mpg or above?

25.8 overall MPG, mostly freeway driving around DC with about 7000 miles on the truck.

From my 07 4.8 I got 13 MPG city. The sticker had 15 gallons city but if you have lots of lights you can watch it tick down while stopped. I get a 10 35D Friday and can compare. Then I will will look for a fun second car.

I,ve had my 35d for just over a year now. Mix of city and highway driving. My average is about 24mpg long term.
As far as the guy pointing out that SUVs are just naturally going to have poor fuel economy ... You're living in the past Sir. It doesn't have to be like that and current diesel engines go along way to making that point. Natural next steps would be mating the diesel engine with an electrical motor, which some manufacturers have already started to announce. |

[QUOTE=rh71;730194]^ considering I'm only doing 15mpg (from the onboard computer) in a 3.0 city without really pushing it that hard I might wanna get mine checked out!

OP:
Didn't you add a half ton+ of "armor" and security stuff to that X? My Vette gets 15+ mpg during a day of hammering it, gas pedal mashed, in lower gears, around the Blue Ridge Pkway, and 30+ on trips,

My 2008 4.8i generally yielded 8-10 mpg in city driving. I never "floored" the car, and usually drove somewhat mild. My 2007 3.0si was honestly not that much better, in terms of mpg. The E70 is big & heavy, so the 3.0si 6 cylinder has to really work.
In my '08 4.8i, with the gas mileage, it would cost me $5-6 dollars to go to the grocery store down the street. Almost always, the mpg was at around 8-9...10 if I was lucky! Our 2007 750Li drank gas like crazy, and our 2010 M6 and 2010 750i are also quite thirsty!!! |

Vettes actually get AMAZING mpg, considering the hp and torque. I have always been impressed and blown away, how efficient the Corvette is!!!

So... what's this about Obama requiring the _avg_ for a carmaker to be 35mpg soon?

I got mid 13s in my '08 4.8i mixed city/hwy. Down to 12.1 in the X6 50i. I'm hard on the pedal so the 10.3 does sound low. Can't imagine someone getting worse mileage than me.
