Nice! Had I not gone for an Alpine White X5 on the lot, I would have ordered Vermillion Red over Beige Nappa, even if that meant Sport Activity instead of the M Sport package on the 50i.

Thanks. I prefer the multi-contour seats, and really don't like the black headliner, plus the X5d doesn't get the same sport suspension as the gas models, so the sport package for me isn't all that attactive. I do really like the sport steering wheel, though.

Plus, my order is showing the soft close doors as a no cost option?! My CA told me its scheduled for production the first week of October, although I thought production didn't actually start until the second week (so maybe he meant the first week of October production?). Anyway, I should driving it before the end of the October. Did I say 'woo hoo!' already?

Vermilion Red w/ Sand Beige Nappa leather and Light Poplar, Cold Weather, Premium, Premium Sound, and Technology packages, plus BMW Apps, Adaptive Drive, Multi-contour seats and, of course, soft close doors.
Does the soft close show up under any of your packages- like "technology"??? I've ordering the same, except for tech

Week 40 is the earliest I'd heard on the start of '12 diesels, so it sounds like yours will be pulled in...

No, I looked for that, but it simply is listed as a stand alone option, with "N/C" in both the wholesale and retail price columns. I'm sure something will change, but for now, that's certainly an attractive price.

I just got my 2011 last week 35d. Its great! I can't imagine how they can make the 2012 better but I'm sure they did. I agree the engine sounds cool! That being said any exhaust suggestions?

Well, the dealer just called, and it's finally arrived. However, I won't be picking it up until Saturday. Can't wait!

This very interesting, Will your car have the "New 3.0 Twin turbo 313BHP engine"?, or the old one, as from my understanding the only two cars at the moment to get the new all alloy engine will be the X3 and 6 series. I have the X3 35D M Sport built week 40 and thats the first week any car will get this new engine .
Mine will be here in two weeks time, it's on the boat.
PS) the X5 here is NOT getting that engine.

I'm absolutely sure it will have the old one, as you folks across the pond get all sorts of goodies that we don't, or you get them first. As I understand it, there is no plan to update the engine in the 2012 diesels -- and doing so would require all sorts of governmental submittals and approvals that haven't been done (I've seen the CARB approval for 2012 diesels, and its for the same engine as the 2009-2011 versions -- and even that took weeks to get approved, despite there being no change!). Plus, neither our US version X3 nor 6 series (or did you mean X6, although the answer is the same) offer a diesel option.

Yep I double checked and you are right mike, the old engine, you should get the updated one next year though from my information.

Nothing wrong with the current 35d engine. It's awesome!
