The question is - is it normal for the mirrors to take different times in folding. Answer the question and provide a solution/reco if it's an issue or mention that this is normal. I haven't seen that happen in other cars hence the question since I'm new to BMW's.

If you have nothing worthwhile to add, keep away. Don't behave like as a**hole. Keep your nonsense comments to yourself.

My 2011 x35d does this too. And my drivers outside mirror is the one that's slower. Also during freeway driving (higher speeds) it wiggles left and right just slightly in the housing which is really distracting because the passenger side doesn't do this. I have oil change appt on Tuesday so will ask about it then.

Side note at 4600 miles my first oil change is due according to iDrive and email I got from BMW telling me I needed service. Guess that must be off my 10/2010 build date.

Same thing - driver's side is slower and it started happening recently, was fine before. Let us know what your SA says.

My drivers mirror also folds slower than passenger. Have complained about it before, but will do so again and force them to document.

Actually on mine if you fold/unfold about 6-7 times rapidly, the drivers mirror lags so far behind and groans that the mirrors will stop folding for awhile even though you are pushing the button.

Mine was documented and said it's expected to have some lag.

Surprised this hasn't been the case with other cars which are way older than this 7 month old 35d.

It has a built in overload protection.

Well I went in for my oil service today and mentioned the mirror. It clearly wobbles in the housing and it's noticeable free play...passenger mirror isn't like this....I even had the SA look at both - he agreed. The mechanic did not. He took the assembly apart and couldn't find anything wrong with it.

The mechanic noted there was impact damage to my drivers mirror too. (I had the day before actually gently grazed the side of the garage door frame pulling in and there was a 1/4" x 1/2" stripe of white paint....so now my invoice has that noted on it.

So no replacement. The thing is that the mirror did this from the day I got it...when I move to Portland I'll try the dealer there (since we only have 1 in Boise).
