Wait- You had a CEL, and because it would come and go both you AND THE DEALER did nothing????

Absolutely UNACCEPTABLE behavior by the dealer..every failure is logged, they can test, track and repair even intermittent issues.

Mine is still at the dealer, will learn more today, but they said they are waiting on the headquarters to advise them on something... As I was in a meeting when call came, I couldnt ask "right questions"...

So EGR has been replaced, car re-programmed, all looks good.

An interesting side effect to note - after re-programming, the 4x4/ DSC malfunction error came up (multiple times, each time reset itself after engine restarts)... Aparently re-programming resulted in steering angle sensor loosing its settings, and it had to be-calibrated. All well since then.

Just catching up on this thread. Have a 2011 X35 d with 19,800 miles and just had a CEL when I put it in reverse to back out of the garage at work this evening. Taking it in to Santa Monica BMW on Monday. First 19,800 miles have been trouble free.
