Current purchases from iTunes have no restrictions. Older ones that you have previously purchased can be upgraded for a small fee per song. If you have a lot of older iTunes purchases the fees can ad up.

If you convert the old songs from the apple format to mpeg, does the copy restrictions follow with the mpeg format? I haven't tried that.

I don't have a large song collection, so I was able to create an itunes DVD with all my songs using the "backup" feature of itunes. I was a bit surprised, and pleased, when I found that the back-up disc wasn't some special encoded format and that my X5 had no problem reading and transferring the collection from the "backup" DVD to the X5 HD.

Oh lordy, I avoid buying anything from itunes like the plague.

It's simple to convert AAC files into MP3's within Itunes. Check out the info on this site. It gives a pretty detailed outline of what to do.

The Aux jack next to the USB port works fine, but the USB is dead...???
I have the same issue. Did you find any solution? BMW dealer says that I have to change the aux/usb port. It cost 250$ + tax

Unfortunately, the USB Hub just quit working and after I replaced it, it's been working fine ever since.

You can but a new one here for $107:
https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...b/84109200503/

Or here for $93:
https://www.getbmwparts.com/oem-part...ck-84109200503

Or, you can probably find a used one on eBay for less, if you want to go that route...

It's a pretty simple repair to do yourself.

Good luck,
John

I think the hub us only needed for the unused phone cradle in the arm rest. If your hub is bad, you can patch around it.
