You don't note where in "NY"...if you are driving around Buffalo/Rochester is very diff than driving around the surrounding counties of NYC, in my experience.
And, depending on how many miles you do in a 'winter', they may be a good deal to get you through one winter. They have tread, at least for one normal 3-4 month season, imo. GL, mD
