Cleared out my belongings from the now totaled X5 (L661489). Before Xmas my son was driving the x5 and this lady did an abrupt stop 200ft before a green traffic light. My son tried to brake and swerve out of the way but still made contact the older truck's bumper caught the X5 below the front driver's headlamp and tweaked the entire front frame leading to 9500+ worth of damage. Insurance totaled the X5 and cut me a check for the residual. The other party got $219 from our insurance.
All in all it was a good performer. It lived to 158K miles. Thermostat/water pump replaced at 75k, trans filter/fluid at 80K, egr cooler at 95K, glow plugs/controller at 110K, 2nd battery at 157K, was getting ready to do all of the boost solenoids, vacuum lines, and crank damper before the accident. No hints of NOx sensor failure, DPF was still within limits and it had a flaky off and on DEF canister sensor failure when the DEF fluid ran low. A 2012 X5 (L671470) with 72K miles is on its way to replace. |

Very nice. Being that the entire dash and lights are amber/red, did you get used to the white? was it easy to swap the bulbs? LED or Halogen?
