I've never seen a mention of m57 or n57 and spun rod bearing so I'm betting nope. I think that's an exclusive to N55 motor issue.

B48, S55 and newer use an improved mapping. The one i don't know about is N20.

Yeah, the M57 is good for a few hundred thousand miles or more if oil changes are kept up. It's a solid engine really. Keep the oil and filter fresh and I like getting the used oil analyzed so if a problem develops, I can hopefully catch it early.

What have you done to your E70 today?

Amen. I don't think the oil pump is dme controlled. N55 is the first one i think to do it and they last past the warranty so BMW is not going to admit fault.

The newer models that use dme have higher pressures and "surprise surprise" no systemic rod bearing failures

Great, so I only have to worry about the entire emission system, fuel system, turbos, vacuum system, footwell module, and not the oil system too.

Footwell module, yeah unfortunately. Mines been replaced once under the extended warranty, $800 installed at the dealer in 2015.

Emissions control systems, yep. That's the worst part of the entire drivetrain. Get the engine to operating temperature often and don't let it suffer short, 'down the road for snacks' trips.

Turbo is another 200k+ (really plus) mile item. Use the "best" oil with the lowest SAPS, highest NOACK volatility, HTHS and flashpoints, let the turbo cool down for a bit before shutdown and you will maximize that service life.

The vacuum system hoses and other hoses (boost piping) will get old and probably age out. The canister can crack, too.
