What is this loose piece in my trunk?
So just picked up the truck the other day, love it. I noticed today while unloading something that there is a loose black plastic piece on the hatch. It was dark out and I will get a better look at it tomorrow but looks like it had a wire connected to it and I could see some type of insulation. Anyways here is a pic illustrating the part.
The part in question is a small, roughly 2x1" black plastic piece located under the latch, center of the lift gate. Anyone want to chime in what it is. Looks like it just fits in a little slot but its not staying in place. I was going to put a small drop of superglue to keep in place but want to know what it is first. thanks ![]() |

Looks like the manual release for the lift gate. Access from the interior if you have an electrical malfunction like a flat battery, since the electrically operated hatch won't open in that instance.

agree with above, don't superglue it.
