I have had to add Freon to my 2008 X5 4.8L every year since 2012. Every spring it is low and I have cold drivers seat and warm vents elsewhere. Add a little Freon till the pass side is cold and I have been good till next year.

I actually replaced all the Orings that are accessable in the engine compartment except for the connection to the firewall.
Has anyone pulled that connection apart to inspect/replace Orings? I wonder if that is the source of the very slow leak. I can add Freon in about 45 minutes each year but it should not be leaking.

FWIW it's been almost three years since I had it recharged and it continues to work fine.

add uv leak indicator to the system, the a uv light to look for the leak....

All for DIY, but there are times and tasks where the economy of doing it annually are outs eighed by having a pro do it once....

Had the same issue.

Possible Problems are:
- low freon charge
- HVAC mixing valve (also called Water Valve)
- component where the valves are installed (I don't know the name)

In my case:
- recharged the system and issues came back.
- replaced water valve and the issue came back.
- replaced charge valves assembly and all good.

Like everyone suggested start with recharge first.

Do you have the product number for the "charge valves assembly" ? I've been searching and can't seem to find it.
