does this problem only occur when the AC is on or does it also do it when the heat is on? My blower will be on blast then suddenly it feels like the air flow stops but the blower sounds like it's on high! Does it sound like the controller?

yep not to be fully trusted .. but such zoom

We are now selling a totally reliable toyota rav4 4cylinder for the x5 v8. Needed a stronger tow vehicle for ski boat. And decided to gamble.on a x5 for.the posh varoom But it is clear the reliability isn't a Toyota in the x5s. Clearly the v8 engines have a number of gaskets that leak and.need.to be replaced. The the fsu or blower likes to fail. And I just saw a check engine code and have ordered the carly iphone code reader setter. Spark plugs o2 sensors hope not.worse!
I have told wife my we will call the x5 "the plane" and I will inspect and maintain it like a plane. Fyi I am pretty good at car maintenance and my plan is to diy very carefully. And Heaven forbid if a really tough problem happens I hear a great.bmw Indy is nearby. I have not heard about transmission failures or engines dying ... well vanos issues yes.
As far.as.trusting.well I got the high end premium AAA towing service with a 200 mile towing radius. Dallas to austin or houston to austin it goes back to home for repair.
On a longer trip ... I leave no codes unserviced before we go.
Do love the posh zoom .... a killer and the boat is now towed easily 😁

If you hear the blower motor running hard but get no air then it is likely not the fsu or any controller. my guess would be a broken fan on the motor or ducting isn't opening? Fsu failure would most likely be a slow fan or erratic fan speed. Blower motor failure would mean no spinning motor sound. Fyi my air just stopped and I had no motor sound but the bars on a.c..changed. I got into it and discovered the blower motor bearings where bound up like partly rusted. I used some penetrating oil and hand spun the fan over and over soon it spun reasonably free. Put it back together and it so far it is running.fine. next time it stops like.that I order and replace.the blower. Rmeuropean.com is my parts supplier of choice. Half.price.parts and free.shipping. and I like Art

Hi guys. Sorry for resurrecting this thread. After going through this and finding out that all the symptoms I have are due to the blower resistor, I bought the part and installed it myself. It was a tough job and couldn't have done it without this thread. Thank you.

However after installation:

1. I still get intermitent fan speed e.g. The fan bars on the display are at max but the air coming out is as weak as a whisper.

2. After driving around about 15 mins the fan speed eventually goes normal.

3. The next day weak blower speed again.

Does anyone think the AC control module is malfunctioning?

By the way, I also have an "Increased Battery Discharge" error when I start my drive everyday though my battery is still good (bec its not dead yet). Is this somewhat related to my AC Blower issue?

I think I'm gonna change my battery this week and see if it makes a difference. Its been 3 years already and I think batteries are only good for that time right?

Try to recharge your battery overnight with proper smart charger and check the fan functioning again after your charger displays 'fully charged'.

Instead, Buy a quality smart battery charger that will recognize an AGM-VRLA battery. You will need one to maintain your next BMW battery.

DO NOT remove the battery. Using the access points under the hood fully charge the battery. The hours on bulk and absorption charge rate times the average charge current should be roughly the capacity of your battery, abut 90 AH - Ampere Hours.

A well maintained AGM battery should last more than three years - that's one of its advantages. BMW's are hard on batteries.

I am a new BMW owner, but a submarine trained battery charger/maintainer. I am fully recharging my BMW's battery weekly with the best charger that I have.

Hi guys. Just wanted to update you all. I basically went with replacing my 3 year old battery with an AGM type. Miraculously, my weak blower problems are now gone! :-) I can't explain how and why but the blower is now blowing as it should be. So I guess, maybe, I wasted hard earned money on the regulator then hahaha. Anyway, I'm contented and happy again with the X. Cheers! 🍻🍻🍻
