Just My luck
I also have repair advantage Max and hoping they will cover some of my payment, If anyone has this after market warranty and has had coolant problem let me know if this was cover. I am debating whether I should take to dealer, license mechanic, or see if I can take it to a mechanic in the street. Thank You everyone Video is attached below BMW 2009 X5 engine coolant leak - YouTube

Sorry to hear! Dealer will nail you with labour to fix the coolant exchange...I would definitely try a reputable indie

By front driver side did you mean the front of the engine bay? My 4.8i had coolant leaks all over the place. I suggest looking at the coolant expansion tank and radiator first before going to the complicated stuff like the transfer pipe, water pump, etc. It could also be something as simple as a hose.

Never even considered the expansion tank...something to definitely look into...start with the simplest and cheapest first...

My 2008 4.8i had the coolant expansion tank leaking from the bottom, you could only see it when the car it up to operating temp, I also had to change the hose from the botom of the tank also, and the coolant temp sensor.

Just watched the video, there's a good chance it might be your expansion tank. When my tank was cracked the same area was covered in coolant. It's not an extremely expensive part (around $90-100). It's simple to replace, I barely knew how to change oil when I swapped mine out. If you prefer not to DIY I suggest going to an indie shop to save some money.

Thanks ART-qitec I hope is that. I just call my 'Repair Advantage Max' Warranty and told them about my coolant leak and that someone told me they think is the expansion Tank, and they told me this is covered under my warranty. WooHoo, I am hoping is that now.

No it was not, and very easy to do, you will lose some coolant you have to replace, but i guess you are already losing that much or more with that leak..
