I didn't really read the FS ad in too much depth, but does the particular X you are looking at have some kind of warranty? May run into the typical first year of production issues with the diesel (09)...

Warranty would be some form of short power train or possible emissions but not much else. What is best to search to find first year issues with diesel? I assume this is only the first year for US diesel was it previously available in Europe with a different emissions package.

That is correct. There are a few write-ups here for the diesel problems, but most common are EGR cracking,EGR vlave sticking,T-stat blocking(running cooler than normal) and SCR,or urea injection, problems. The dealer probably erased all the codes, but my advice is to dive the car for at least 20-30 miles and find a way to read the codes from the engine. That is regardless of the PPI of course.
