Rolled 100,000 miles finally and had to replace the valve cover gasket and leaking oil pressure sender. Got to the point I could actually smell the oil. Also installed the Akibono brake pads too. Went "Indie" on the work though and saved $1000 over the dealer's estimate. Told the dealer service writer if the problem is not related to some specific BMW electronic component or engine management system, I can't justify their $240 per hour labor charges anymore. He couldn't argue with that point. They do have the best deals on oil changes though.

It usually happens with cooler outdoor temps (35-45 degrees), but frequency has dropped off to not being a real issue, so I'll wait until it becomes annoying.

Similar. I've only been annoyed about 5x it tends to resolve within ten minutes when it does happen. I think the e70 like f15 has the easy access blower so maybe Murphy's law not bothering to waste time on us.

The new spark plugs did their job on a quick trip to the Woodlands in Texas with about 90% highway travel at 75mph. Can't complain about 28mpg.

The Woodlands is a fantastic place! I like taking my E53 over there to put some highway miles on after a long stint in the garage. The waterway is a great place to enjoy some outdoor time. Especially with that ambient temperature you are showing on your cluster LoL..

With AC? I got 27.5 on my latest trip to Chicago but down to 19 mixed but the time I left a couple days later.

Return trip 25.5 highway. I'm slightly older platform e53 but believe the same engine. Did they "TU" the n55 for the F15 chassis?

On a road trip last fall I got about 600 miles range on one tank over 27 on the whole tank. Apparently they have good gas in Ohio. My best mpg always when I'm coming back from Pennsylvania and fill up in Ohio.

Hey @ s and many m: when did you get the F15? Curious your miles per year.

It's Texas so that A/C is on all the time! Three major contributors to the better mileage in my opinion:

1) Direct Injection
2) Reduced engine RPM at cruise (1750 RPM @ 75 MPH)
3) Turbo boost management means fewer downshifts on cruise control

I purchased this one as a lease return 1-29-21 with 59,000 miles on it, so I'm running about 20,000 miles per year. A little less than the 2002 E53 I sold with 389,000 miles on it.

I've noticed that when driving on flat ground, the mpg dial will move a lot while RPM doesn't change that must be related to turbo boost control. I get consistently 25% better mpg than my e53.

Same with mine. Always 4-5 mpg better than the E53 was, both in the city and on highway, as well as towing the Waverunner.
