Full color Head-up Display

New Style Nav Screen(pic from 6-coupe), unless BMW introduces another design...this is the new BMW standard for NAV screens. New 3-series also has same style screen.

I saw the new 6 coupe last week at dealers day after launch (UK) was fully speced at £75k sterling. Inside with leather everywhere looked fantastic, huge screen, dash lights up LED style on opening doors, seats were total luxury.

Really was the dogs bollocks, if the new X5 is the same, it will be some truck

Just out of curiousity, what is the little key symbol for on the steering column of the 6 above?

That is for emergency situations where remote battery is dead or for some reason remote is not detected by the car. You hold the remote in front of symbol and press the start/stop button to start the car.

The test mules are undergoing winter testing right now in northwest Europe. You will start seeing the spy pics soon.

It's so clear to me that I'm such a techno-geek. I'm loving the possible new technologies to come from the next gen-X5.

I love the HUD on my E70 X5. But now that I'm used to it etc, I think the one tone colour (amber) is just boring and hard to read on bright days. The new full colour HUD is a worthwhile improvement on the system.

I also read somewhere that the new X5 will also get the (now standard on the 7 & top of the range 5 series) radar controlled cruise control. The X5 with this tech along with the lane guidance control, might just be able to drive itself.

A few cars can pretty much already drive themselves (German cars: S-class, 7 series, A8). It's that small gap of faded lines in the road, GPS accuracy, and the red light where no cars are stopped in front of you that need to be fixed. I'd say by 2020...

From what I have heard the technology is essentially in place. The issue is with the insurance coverage. Who is the driver?

Side note: imagine how many more people would drive home smashed, relying on the car to get them home! Maybe it would actually save lives.
