Thanks. Tried to get a factory tour about 18 months ago when our orchestra was playing in Greenville and had the next day off, but factory was closed to tours because they were gearing up for new model production (which happened to be for the X6). Will definitely get down there when I can to take driving school and tour.

Go for it, I've done it twice and its been a sad commentary how its gone from 60/40 US/Export to 30/70 (BS perspective based figure). Call ahead and ask and they'll tell you.

Interesting that only 30 percent of production originating in Greer, SC goes to US customers. I had no idea that the X5 and X6 were that popular overseas, even though I am reading many posts from people around the world. I always thought that the large X vehicles were more of an "American thing". Maybe availability of diesel engines in both X5 and X6 (which we cannot get in US) has something to do with those worldwide sales dynamics. Interesting that fewer diesel X5's are being made available for US customers, even though they have been very popular, and are much more difficult to find than petrol models.

DELTA, could have gotten my tickets for free (i have 150K skymiles from NorthWest which recently merged with Delta ), but i had to pay $75 plus tax each because i booked my flight 20 days before, if i did it 21 days before, that $75 fee is waived. And yeah, its just a one way ticket, which saved me some SkyMiles...

Paid $160 total, for me and my wife...

If I ever did PCD, I might be tempted to permanently borrow an EU-bound X5.

well, 98% of statistics are BS. But theres a noticeable difference between NAM and Exports, and with our economy last summer, there were definately more 3.0 diesels without sunroofs and orange taillights than dark blue or space gray cars with Nav and Heated Seats. (Not a knock, cause I would have probably taken one)
