I drove my friends 4.8is with sport seats for a day and thought they were rather stiff and uncomfortable...but like you said, E38 seats are hard to beat...now I have no idea how the 750 seats are but they sound comfortable
I have problems with my lower back. I still have lumbar with my sports and the knee bolster and side bolsters which hold me in place better work much better for me. I too agree that the top portion of the comforts paired with the base of sports would be ideal (that's how e38 740i contour seats are) and how my e65 was but it just seemed like to much work for my liking.

I can promise you that on spirited drives the sport seats make a difference as well.

Those E65 seats look like I could take an 8 hour nap with no back problems whatsoever lol
I agree that spirited driving demands sport seats...I find myself slightly sliding off the seat on tight turns at higher speed than the "speed limit"

They were unbelievably comfortable. I REALLLLLY miss the seats and the autopark feature that car had.
