Combined Bluetooth / Assist Retrofit Problem

Hi,

A month a go I retrofitted NAV to my X5. Everything is working fine and the Monitor/DVD drive/CD Changer all came from the one car, a 2006 4.8is. I also received the combined Bluetooth/Assist module.

Today I fitted the TCU. My car is 04/2004 build. I connected the TCU to the 54 pin connector and the bluetooth aerial to the TCU (beige connector). I did not make any connection to the two remaining plugs on the TCU. One is for the eject box aerial I believe and one is the aerial for the the Assist part to make calls.

When I reconnected the battery the NAV unit correctly gave me the TELEPHONE option. When I move the ignition to pos 1 or 2 I get 'searching' as per the pairing procedure but the unit will not pair with my phone (Nokia 6310i) or my wife's Motorola RAZR.

I notice that none of the lights illuminate on the NAV unit whilst attempting to pair.

Note that I DID NOT install an eject box. Could this be the problem? Is it essential? I though it only provided power and aerial to the phone if in the cradle - and a paring buttom which I thought was superlous on the combined Bluetooth / Assist setup.

One member reported having to ground pin 46 of the 54 pin connector to get his unit to pair (simulating the pairing button). Should I get the eject box to complete the install? If i go down this route which one would I need - the 2004 version (84-21-6-933-415) or the 2005 (84-21-6-946-063) which both have pairing buttons anyway!

Please help!

Luke
