Well, I guess I did have some default favorites defined (Contacts, etc. were already defined to those buttons), and I was getting a continuous reset. So I deleted ALL the favorites, and it still kept resetting. I added about 6 favorites (phone contacts only), making sure there are no extra characters. All my favorites are one word, no spaces. I now can search for the BMW from the Bluetooth app on the Treo, it sees it, lets me enter the passcode, but then nothing. I've tried it probably a dozen times so far, each time restarting the vehicle. ONCE I actually had a connection thru the BT/Assist module, but then it dropped after about 3 seconds.

I stopped into the Verizon store, and of course the tech said, "Nope, not supported."

Other than that, any ideas?

The pairing instructions with BT/Assist is the key for your sucess. You are almost there.

Check out these instructions:
http://www.bmwmotorsports.org/pdf/BT_Pairing_05.pdf

PAIRING PROCEDURE E46/E83/E85/E53
1. Turn Key off and then to KL-R or KL-15. (Position 1 or 2, no need to start the car)
2. The vehicle is ready for pairing for the first 2 minutes of key on.
3. "Activate Telephone" appears on the MID or Board Monitor.
4. During the pairing process, depending on equipment, the indicator lights on MID or Board Monitor display
flash.
5. Your mobile phone should now be set to search for BT devices. See the Owner's Manual for your handset.
6. A request to enter a password, PIN, or code appears on the handset display, depending on your model.
Enter the 'BLUETOOTH PASSKEY" (supplied with the vehicle literature), using the numerical keys on
the handset and confirm the input. Look for a confirmation message on the handset.
7. To conclude the pairing process, turn the key off.
Wait approximately 30 seconds
before turning the key back on. The phone will now be connected when the
key is turned on. It may take several minutes to initially load the phone book stored in the handset
depending on the number of entries.

Well, it sounded promising. I tried it in Position1, Position2, and also with the X5 running, each time waiting well over 30 seconds between initial pairing, and trying the phone. I rec'd the continuous reset about every 30 seconds. Sometimes I'd get a connection thru Assist, but it would only last about 4-5 seconds.

When you say "favorites with no extra characters" you mean no dashes, hyphens, parentheses, etc. in the phone number itself, right? What about in the favorite name? I have none of these "extra characters" but I'm still trying to figure out why my BT is not hooking up. I have a "Quick Key" defined for each favorite. Is that considered a "extra character?" Should the favorites ONLY be phone contacts? What happens if one is an application?

TIA for all your help....

I think your speed dial/favorite set-up is fine....sounds like the maybe the VZW Treo 650 works with the -114 BT/Assist module and not the -993. I have the -114 module which is a newer module. Apparently, there is a new module out now -056.

The only you shouldn't have is any "EXTRA DIGITS" stored in your contact. There should be no pauses in the phone number.

The "quick key" is fine.

Treo 650 pairing with the new -056 TCU

What is the general concensus on the Treo 650 pairing with the BMW, the posts are conflicting. Someone out there with a brand new 05 with the -056 TCU might know. Is it a yes or a no??

I'm retrofitting my 3-04 X5 and have ordered the new -056 TCU, it should be in this week. (Crevier says I'm the first to order this TCU, I'll post results)

I was set to buy the E815 motorola (verizon) today until i saw the Treo, i didnt realize you could touch screen dial.... nice feature for those of us who are nearsighted.

Thanks for any input

(FYI there is a ton of info out there on how to make the E815 from Verizon do all the things the V710 couldn't, OBEX, dial up etc, pretty simple to do)

Verizon treo 650 & x5 success anyone?

I have a brand new x5 and a new Verizon Treo 650 with the latest firmware patch. I can get them to pair, but the Treo goes into endless reboot mode when attempting to download address book. I have deleted all favorites buttons, so there is in address book to download.

The good news is that my wife's Verizon Moto V710 with the latest firmware pairs flawlessly with the x5.

I'd greatly appreciate any help on the treo.

Has anyone tried using the Sprint Rom code on the VZ phone? I'm thinking it should work?

I've got both contacts and favorites and I get the re-set loop. So frustrating! I can make calls if I happen to catch the phone in b/t re-sets, but otherwise it doesn't work at all.

See my other post below... VZ has disabled the function needed to stop the phone from crashing. They have removed the code needed for bluetooth file transfer.. which is used for the phone book. The solution is a custom ROM with Sprint code.. I'm convinced this is the only solution.
