I found the VIN from the old car and the TCU is from a 3L X3. As the tcu was manufactured 26.9.2005, the wiring from such a car should be:

(edit)

Sadly its the same wiring

Triple-check that you have +12V on pins 17 & 18, Ground on pins pins 36 & 54, and ~+7V on pin 15. Do this with the TCU removed and triple-check that you have the pins identified correctly. If the TCU has +12V, ground, and I-Bus, then the Telephone option will appear on your nav menu or MID.

In my experience helping people with TCU/ULF retrofits, mot of the problems are due to a wiring fault in the adapter harness, and only a few are a bad component. So, assume that your wiring is bad and work from there. If you do the triple-check and still get no results, then maybe you have a bad TCU.

As usual CCJF1 to the rescue.

The old eject box had 4 wires.

1: Green (pair)
2: Brown (gnd)
5: Red (+12v)
13: white (Cradle on)

I think you GND the pair button, test it with a meter to see if it's idle low or high then pull it the other way.

Yup, you ground the pairing pin to initiate pairing.

TCU retrofit help

I have '05 330i that didn't come with assist or navigation. I've installed a TCU, Bluetooth antenna, and microphone. The TCU is part # 84106965056. I've verified online that this unit should work with an e46. I can't get my car to detect the TCU in DIS, INPA, or NCSexpert. I've verified that my wire harness is configured for US TCU-Everest, not BIT. According to WDS pins 17 & 18 are constant power from the battery. When I test those wires I get less than 1v. Can someone test pins 17 & 18 and tell me how much voltage you are getting? Or is there a resource that shows how much voltage each wire is supposed to be getting? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
