Icelink Install...Help

Hi guys,

I just finished installing icelink onto the X5. Installation went ok...or not.(Installing for the 2nd time)

This time I actully got the songs playing and got control on picking songs + next song + fast fowarding on steering wheel. But, I got a problem with using the icelink still. The problem I'm having is that, I cannot get into menu control via button 6. Or have any control over the iPod.

Is it a problem with setting up playlists? Cause at the moment I only got 5 playlists. And if I push on 6(on NAV), it doesn't do anything. The songs simply plays on. If it was playing on 5-13, it changes to 6-13. So, I can't access to the menus.

If any of these has happened to anyone or ppl got ideas why, please help out. I really want the icelink to work on my car!(song's actually playing clearer than the old cd player)

I have the same problem, however, now when I press 6, I don't get the setup menus anymore. do I have to reset something?

I just finished the process that was posted by bob01. And I have text + menu now. Works like a dream

Heres what he wrote. I think it's instruction from TomG as well. Hope this will help you out pesto. Just a note to on top of this, when you controling the menu on iPod, you do it via controls on NAV, NOT via forward/previous buttons on iPod. I confused myself with the [>] or [<] on NAV with iPods forward and previous buttons!

And firmware 2B2, may be essential. You can check the firmware version when the warning screen comes up on iPod(Top right). Mine said V22.B2, I'm assuming this is the latest version 2B2.

Below is what bob01(Rob) wrote:

Here're some pointers based on my own experience...

1. First, make sure you're running the 2B2 firmware from Tom G.

2. Press and release [disc-6], don't hold it down

3. Look at the iPod's screen - you should see the Dension logo.
- On hitting [disc-6] a menu should appear, scroll through the menu with [<] and [>] or the NAV wheel, select by pressing and holding the [>]
- Select "Setup"
- Select "Text Selector" - the MID should now read "Select 1" and the NAV should say "Select 3" <- * I think - going from memory here...*
- press [disc-1] for iPod text on the MID, [disk-3] for the NAV
- done.

Cheers,
- Rob
Am I suppose to have contol on iPod itself? And, somehow after doing finishing with instructions, "TELEPHONE" button appeared on my NAV screen...but I haven't got bluetooth phone. How can I get rid off it? Or maybe god is giving a hint...

I tried that, but whenever I hit 'disc-6' and up arrow on steering wheel, I never get the setup menu anymore.

I inadvertently turned down the volume the one and only time I was able to get the setup menu, and can't get back there to change it.

Hitting disc-6 should give you a menu on the iPod screen or give you a menu somewhere? iPod itself, NAV monitor or MID(the display inside cluster). If it doesn't...then it's pretty weird. And uparrow on the steering wheel, changes songs. When you want to control the menu(if you can get one from these 3 spots), you do it through [<] and [>] on NAV. I think it's under Tone/Select.

This is as far I know how this thing works. Best way is to contact Tom G on the forum. Send him a PM, he'll definitely help out
