Another problem with the text display: it works perfectly as long as there are no special characters (Spanish, Polish, Russian etc. all supported by my iPod) in the track title, artist name, CD title. When such a track is being played, the text in the navscreen shows the previous track, sometimes with a "_" as the first character. Later when a track without special characters is played the text display is working correctly again.

Any suggestions?

The DICE setup supports languages which use the Roman alphabet, and will substitute letters not recognized with symbols.

This is obvious. My question was, if this is normal that DICE shows the text belonging to the previously played track, just with some symbols inserted?

I reinstalled my dice and it is working fine. I can control on the steering wheel and through the radio module. The sound is good. However, I cannot get the track text to show up. I get detached when I disconnect it, init when I reconnect it, and sometimes I will get playlist. Whenever I try to get the track text to appear, I get * * . I have a 30 gig video ipod with 1.2 firmware. Thanks in advance.

I have the same problem. The text is "here today, gone tomorrow". Seems to have a mind of its own. I have noticed two things:

1. When the engine is restarted after being off for several hours, the text always appears.

2. If I make or receive a bluetooth call while listening to the iPod, the text disappears and there is no way to bring it back other than turning off the engine for several hours. To somewhat remedy this situation, I always switch the source from DICE to tuner (either AM or FM) before making a Bluetooth call. After the call, I switch the source back to the DICE. If I follow that protocol, then I don't lose text.

As info, I have a 2005 X5 with Assist. I do NOT have NAV or DSP. I have an 80 Gig Video iPod.

I will try and let the car sit for a while and then restart it. I have an 02, no bluetooth, nav, or dsp.

Pawel,

You can try removing/reconnecting the battery cables to reinitialize the system and reboot the iPod. If the kit wasn't initialized properly - it can cause behavior such as this.
