One thing interesting is that when the radio switches to FM and then I switch back to CD changer, the radio says CHECK CD and I cannot select any of the disk numbers. Then the radio gives up and I can no longer here the music after it clicks a bit.

You think maybe because I have an older car and a newer DICE unit, this is causing compatibility issues?
It wouldn't be that at all. Where (and when) was the kit purchased?

I ordered it from Bavariansoundwerks.com last Sunday. I haven't contacted them about my issue yet.

You'll have to contact them directly for an exchange if one is needed.

Hi.

I have a problem with having to choose where to display the mp3tag.

It is a bit strange actually, because at times when powering up the system, the text will be as i chose it earlier, but then the ipod shows detached. I then have to unplug the ipod and reconnect it and everythjing is fine^.

Other times when i power up the system, the ipod starts playing right away, but at this time, there is no tag text anywhere, and i have to access disk 06 to choose where to show the text.

I can not see any difference in wether the car has been locked or not, and the time its shut off varies in both circumstances..

It happens more often that the the ipod plays straight away, and i have to choose where the text is displayed..

Any thoughts Tom.? It is a bit annoying having to select text all the time.. I can leave the car for 5 minutes and i have to set it up again...

Can you read me the numbers on the back of the module, beneath the bar code?

No idea on the refurbs, but there will likely not have any type of warranty with those units.

Here's the kit you need for your X5:

DICE - SILVERLINE PRO iPod Integration Kit for X5 00-06 (Trunk Interface)
eas - 714.369.8524 | DICE - SILVERLINE PRO iPod Integration Kit for X5 00-06 (Trunk Interface)

Kits are in stock, ready to ship.

Tom, I just purchased a Silverline Pro (assume Pro as it has the 'Smart' mode dip switch option) from EAS and picked it up at the shop last week. Our '05 X5 has standard business stereo (no nav, dsp, etc).

Got it installed without incident, but despite having the battery cables unplugged for the entire install the stereo would not recognize the Dice unit. I followed the procedure you've recommended to others here on how to reset things by removing cables, touching for 5 secs., leaving off for 5-7 mins., etc., and now I've got music coming from the iPod, BUT I can't seem to change the 'modes'. Perhaps I'm doing it wrong.

I thought to change modes, I need to disconnect the iPod, slide the lock switch to either unlock (allows iPod click wheel control) or lock (allows browsing via the car stereo/steering wheel controls), then reattach. What I see at all times, is the iPod acts like it's locked (Dice logo on iPod) and the song titles are streaming on the instrument cluster display vs. the head unit display. I'd like to control via the click wheel, but can't seem to get the iPod to let me control things there.

Any help you can offer would be appreciated!
Ron Hipwell
