If you keep the iPod in the trunk (I guess you would call it the boot) the installation will take about 5 minutes. I have it that way in my X5 and it is not a problem at all. I thought one day I would run the wire to the front but just haven't found it necessary. I mean, hey, when it was a CD changer I was in the trunk all the time swapping out the CDs anyway. Cheers.

Provided all the functionality is accessible remotely that won't be a problem and could be a neat solution, thanks .

Guess I had better bite the bullet and get one on order..

Yes, once the iPod is attached to the Dice cable the iPod controls are locked out and all of the functionality is controlled remotely. The ONLY drawback I have found to keeping the iPod in the trunk is that if I don't switch to that source at least once a day the iPod will go into hibernation and the only way to wake it is to press the middle button on the iPod, which necessitates opening the trunk. There are ways to disable hibernation on certain iPod models, and if you use the iPod at least once a day this is moot because hibernation does not occur. The practical upshot for me is that I ocassionally need to open the trunk and hit the button to wake up the iPod at the beginning of the work week.

I have been to the DICE site to enquire which kit I need to buy to fit my IPod remotely in the boot of my E39 M5 - 2002, but so far have had no response. Does anyone here know so I can order the appropriate kit...

Thanks..

Dave

Here's the kit you need:

DICE - SILVERLINE PRO iPod Integration Kit for 5 Series/M5 97-03 (Trunk Interface)
eas - 714.369.8524 | DICE - SILVERLINE PRO iPod Integration Kit for 5 Series/M5 97-03 (Trunk Interface)

If you have a coaxial cable entering your current CD Stacker, you will need the "Digital DSP" kit. We go into depth on the setups here: https://www.europeanautosource.com/s...mod_id=2&id=11

Bluetooth Compatibility

Tom,

I recently began using the Bluetooth capability of my 2005 X5 4.4 (NAV, no DSP) and note that when a phone call is answered the DICE unit loses the ability to display or scroll text. I checked the DICE manual and the text can be restored by hitting CD6>Track 7. So although it is possible to get the text back, it is obviously rather annoying to have to go through this procedure every time I recieve a phone call. Has the DICE software been updated to correct this, or is there a way to get the text back without going through this procedure? Thanks for your help.

This happened on earlier models, I would recommend contacting DICE to speak directly with a technician on your issue.

DICE can be contacted at 888.342.3999 or by email at [email protected].

Thanks Tom. I spoke to DICE support about this and was told that my issue is present in ALL of the past and present SILVERLINE/SILVERLINE PRO models, but that they are working to fix it with a future upgrade/enhancement that is still several months out. Will you keep us posted on this board as new products or enhancements are announced by DICE?

where is the best spot to have the wire come thru. I notice that you have it in the center console, however, i do not want that...

Possible to come through the cupholders without making a huge cut?
