Yes, this is a simple module swap:

Thanks!
But - the DICE allows browsing via the iPod's clickwheel, unlike the ice>Link. I may have another AUX kit left for the ice>Link, email me directly.

Middle position. Is this the correct 3-pin connector? I do not see one available with the brown wire in the end position.

That's our problem - you are using a phone connector.

The BMW side is on the left.

There is another 3-pin connector in the cargo area with the brown wire in the #1 position. Do not confuse this with the DICE wiring harness, that has the wire in the middle.

I was mistaken. The 3-pin connector with the brown middle wire comes from the DICE harness. The 3-pin connector coming from the BMW that I have attached to the DICE harness does have the brown end wire. I believe that I am using the correct connectors.

Any other possible solutions? Is it odd to not have any power to the iPod when docked and all wires are connected?

This is normal operation. Does the X5 recognize the DICE module at all? If not, you may have zapped the module or it could have been defective from the start.

The X5 does not recognize the DICE module at all. This is the 3rd unit that has been tried on my vehicle. A car audio shop tried initially with 2 different units. They sent back one of the units and got this 3rd one. I tried installing the unit myself this time around with no luck again.

Is there any way to tell whether there is a problem with the DICE modules vs the BMW stereo connections?

Interesting - where are you getting these modules? We have no problems with installation in the X5, even with the new iPods.

Feel free to contact me directly by phone if you would like assistance in real-time.

I connected the 3- and 6-pin connectors to the DICE interface cable. Next, I connected the interface cable to the DICE module. Then I connected the dock cable to the DICE module. Then I connected the dock cable to my iPod. Finally, I re-inserted the proper fuses. I turned on my car and radio. When I hit mode, the stereo only switches between radio and cd player. The DICE/iPod does not show up as an option, and there is no initialization. Also, the iPod does not receive any charge while connected to the dock cable and DICE module.

What am I doing wrong? Do I really have to disconnect the battery? Or is removing the fuses sufficient?

My iPod is a 3rd generation unit with version 2.3 firmware. I also tried my girlfriend's photo iPod, version 1.2.1, with no luck as well.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Yup im having this same problem , let me know how you fixed it ?

Thanks

Last we left off, you were looking for your factory wiring. Did you have luck in finding the connectors?
