did find this on the heat issue:

"An enhanced temperature operating range of -10° to 70° C makes A-1000 more reliable than Audiovox (0° to 40° C)"

Those are only the DVD operating temps, which are dictated by the laser servo and the transport. The temp that it shuts down at due to imminent damage are not the same as the eventual harm from baking the LCD motherboard and the DVD drive thing every time a disc is played... I do believe that it's better than the Audiovox, but that's like winning the National League West - not a high bar.

In short, I beleive that this has a fundamental design problem. With a hard drive or a media card, it would be a great idea. Optical disc drives generate too much darn heat.
