Confused on JL Audio amp and stealthbox
How is it that you can use the A1400 with this box? Isn't that too much power? I was all set to get the A1200 but will go for the A1400 if there are no issues. I don't want to blow the woofer.

I decided to go with the A1200. Almost everywhere I go on the internet everyone says that you should match the RMS power from the amp and the subwoofer (and of course, same ohms too). Some recommend that the amp actually have slightly lower power.
The A1200 amp puts out 120 RMS and the sub can handle 125 RMS. Seems like a good combo to me. I'd still like to hear other opinions though.

The A1200 works fine with the Stealthbox so no worries. Higher power amps will give you more available headroom but the 1200 is perfectly fine and can drive that box well. Give the amp a big guage power and ground and enjoy

I personally like to get an amp with a higher output and turning it down... that puts less stress on the amp and keeps it running cooler. I plan on doing that in the X especially since the amp will likely be hidden away somewhere with just a small cooling fan aimed at it. But you would have no problems with the smaller amp.
I also love how the X also has extra mega-fuses sitting there ready for the amp, so I don't have to ghetto up the battery terminals! 80 amp, up to 200 amp fuses sitting there waiting!

Sure. Pull out the spare and look at the front wall of the spare well. You will see a white power distribution box cover towards the left of the front wall... Pull that cover off and you should find a few mega-fuses with bolt terminals there waiting for you. That box also happens to be right in front of the main ground point just to make things easier on you. Just make sure the nuts are properrly tightned as there is lots of current running through that ground point and you don't want to add extra resistance.

Thank you very much for the info. This worked out very well for me.
For those that like pictures here is the cover being removed. Also notice the vehicle ground on the bottom left. I ended up tapping another screw for ground. ![]() With the cover removed you can see I only have one terminal open. I decided not to tap it. Instead I just tapped into the main screw at the top. ![]() By the way, anyone know the part number for the terminal screws? I would like to put one on the open connection just in case I want to tap this terminal in the future. I tried to match the screw at Home Depot and it appears to be a #10-32 fine (if I remember correctly) but the screw is too big to fit in between the area provided. I tried to find this terminal on RealOEM but no luck.

I actually have more fuses open that that, including an extra 80 amp. Guess I'm optioned different...
But I will try to find the proper nuts for that at the local hardware store, otherwise I'd might try to rob some from the last dead flooded X5 before it gets towed away.

What would be the optimum settings for an A1200 Amp using the Stealthbox?
Input Voltage Bass Boost Input Sensitivity Filter Mode Filter Freq.

It turned out that I had a bad A1200, so I never used it. I ended up going with an Alpine MRP-M500.
