i had the 3g ipod 15gb, i felt like i needed an upgrade plus ipod's battery was killin it
so i got the $300 one (30gb) and im very satisfied plus its worth the money!
got 3 seasons of family guy on it plus 1500 music, only takes up half the space...(well not mathematically correct but i assume it is)

If you have a large music collection (10,000+ songs).........yes.

Try not to think of the iPod as a simple MP3 player or "walkman", but as a digital library for your music. This integrated into your X5 will allow easy access to over 15,000 songs at the touch of your steering wheel controls.

The iPod can also be used as a portable Hard Drive for files, boot a malfunctioning computer, contact storage, as well as an MP3 player - the possibilities are endless.

Sure .. I was just wondering about the Ipod Video Vs. the regular Ipod G4 with let's say 20Gig ($200 Vs. $400)? Is the Video part worth it?

Well, the smallest you can get a new iPod is in 30G size - not really a fair comparison. The iPod is a music player first, with video capabilities.

The video is nice on the iPod, but it's not the sole reason to have one.

if you will watch videos on it everyday, yes its worth it.
if your primary reason is to listen to music, then its not worth it.

Do they still make the non-video IPod? I thought they were out of production, unless you are picking up remanufactured units or buying on ebay.

To me, one important reason to go for the new IPod is to also use it to store digital photos on when travelling. The DSLR eats up CF cards, and the IPod can work as a photo vault.

If this is what you are looking for - I would suggest the 4G Color iPod, these can be found new on eBay all the time. You may be able to save a few $$ on this model since the hot ticket is the video iPods at this moment.

For me, it really is worth it. At first I didn't think I would even use the video part but it turns out that I use it all the time. You can buy the 30GB video ipod for $300 if you don't need all of the space the on the 60gb version.

I agree with Tom G. The iPod can also be used as a portable Hard Drive for files, boot a malfunctioning computer, contact storage, as well as an MP3 player - the possibilities are endless.

Those possibilities go out the window though if your the hard drive is too small. Me personally I prefer having more than necessary versus finding myself with not enough. But you gotta figure your needs in comparison to your wants. Maybe the 2 will meet somewhere in the middle.
