Will the Stereo work without the dash mounted CD player connected? Could you just move the MID? There's only a few wires there...

No - the CD must be connected for the DSP amp to turn on.

It's only about half of what I can get from FM.
Did some looking on output of iPod/iPhone's. The max output is just over 1 volt. Assuming that you're using a modern deck you should have at least 4 volt pre-outs. This would give you plenty of power.

The deck I'm looking at is the Pioneer SPH-DA02. Just installed one in my wife's car last night and it's pretty sweet. Haven't been able to find the output voltage specs for the line out yet...

Pretty sweet, too bad I'm anti iProducts...

I'm looking at this:

DDX419

And just picked up used PA-12DSP off eBay for $80.

I have too many iProducts in my house... I'm not a fanboy - they just suit my needs. I don't even have a desktop or laptop - just an iPad. I spend most of my working day on a PC, and have little desire to use one at home.

If you get yours hooked up via the PA-12 before me - let me know how it works. I'm still working on approval from my wife to order the Pioneer

aHaaha!

This is the wife's car and she is going crazy listening to the radio. It's either buy her a new car or put in a new stereo!

I don't expect to see the adapter until next week so no work this weekend unfortunately.

Are you just hooking the adapter up to the stock system, so she can use her ipod? Or are you installing the Kenwood deck also?

I hate the factory interface, I'm going with you're idea of moving the MID and CD somewhere. She doesn't have any Apple products either, were all about Android.

With all this effort, why wouldnt you just install an aftermarket amp and get better sound? I bet there will be a little bit of an attenuation problem and/or some some floor noise coming through the speakers.

I have installed several of the Kenwood 419's and they look cool, work ok, but the Bluetooth is absolute crap, so much so that I have had customers say they dont even use the BT because its just that bad.
