don't know if either of you are following the other thread I started but I think I'm F-ed...

Moved the wiring, CD player in the rear quarter panel, MID in the glovebox. MID will no longer turn on...

Thinking I might move to wiring new amp and running the four midbass speakers for now.

Either of you ever come across a pin out for the speakers? I'd like to use existing wires if possible for now.

from HU to amp, or amp to speakers?

I have my 540 torn apart and speaker wires marked if that what you are asking for. I assume the e39 and e53 dsp system is the same correct?

What part of Oregon are you in? I found speaker wire pin outs. If you had the amp side that would help!

Im in bend, My e39 does not have the amp in it anymore, I gutted it and went all aftermarket. I have not done anything to my X yet tho. What wires are you looking for in paticular, if I cant find them I have a couple people I can call.

Love Bend, good town.

I cut my pigtail for the CD unit off at the dash, I cut them near the back seat too and spliced the pigtail back on and moved wires to the rear stereo hole. Every wire on the pigtail matches up, basically I took out the length of wire from the rear seat to the dash. I assumed that the wires were unique and taking out the section would cause no interference.

Everything worked until I moved the MID which has no power at all. When I turn on the car there is static through the speakers for about 15 seconds which can be made louder and quieter by using the steering wheel volume control. After 15 seconds it goes quiet.

If I can't figure out my issue then the PA-12 comes out and I go to aftermarket stereo. Just another $300 I didn't want to spend yet...

Are you using aftermarket speakers or are they still stock?
Any information about impedance or RMS power handling would be appreciated.

I think I would double check the wiring to the mid, does the mid power down at all or does it remain on? I would assume the wire colors at the dash match the wire colors in the rear? Did you cut the wires at the dash or just buy the pigtail and splice in at the rear? If all else fails put it back to stock and see what happens.

My E39 is all aftermarket, Focal utopia component set up front, Hertz Hi-energy coax in the rear. JL 10w6's for sub, currently powered by a JL Jx700-5 being replaced by some JL HD amps. Probably moving the JX amp to the X5 when I begin building a new system for that.

put it back to stock, try it and see if it works, I assume you did the same with the mid wiring as well yes? Get it back to working condition then buy the metra harness off of amazon and solder it to the harness in the back.

Also, what are the 2 white connectors for? is one the prep for the cd changer/sirius? Did you take the AC control out? I have heard that the mid and the ac connectors are the same and if you mix them up they can cause the problems you are having.

That's twelve splices in front of the back seat and twelve more in the dash... damn... that's a lot of splicing. At least I used bullet connectors so once I undo what I did I can re-do it after I get the twenty four new bullets in place...

For the MID I simply added 6" of wire to each connection. I turned on the system before I moved the MID and it still lit up, didn't change anything besides adding wire to the MID, Tested continuity and everything matched up so I don't think I could have mixed up a wire.

And Yes, the extra white connector must be for either Sat or CD changer, I have neither of those.

Only other thing I think I missed is the DSP cord. Does it have to be plugged into the CD? Maybe that is what I'm missing. But I remember everything working without it plugged in?
I have an extra DSP cable, but it is male to male.
