Ok, so I went ahead and installed. Heres my observations. Prior to install my Mk4 Nav was in "USA" mode, so I had the warning message on startup as well as the Emergency menu item on the main screen - I do have BMW BT/Assist.

After the install, I noticed that the NAV was now in Euro mode. Distances smaller than 1 mile were now in Yards and the Emergency menu option has disapeared from the main menu. Emergency does appear in the phone menu but doesn't do anything if you press it. You can still call BMW assist though, with the button on the Rearview mirror which I did just to make sure that that didn't get effected.

The persective view works well enough. Am I right in stating that no roadnames other than interstates/highways get displayed? I tried a 2004-2 and 2005-2 map and it seemed the same. Perspective works both in Split screen and full screen modes and I really didn't notice any slow down, even when the vehicle was turning left/right and the map needed to rotate. Since there are no road names on my map at least ... this may be a indication on how they have got pretty good performance.

Overall an interesting excercise .... :-) I hope they do release this feature in a future release, just for the cool factor!

Cheers, Adrian

The only place where I noticed a bit of performance slowdown was when changing Map Scales especially when scaling to longer distances (2.5 to 5 miles, and more)...

Thanks for the update. Very cool stuff

Did anyone else loose AUX Ventilation?

I had it in both the E38 and X5 before the upgrade and then nothing after the upgrade. I disconnected the battery on the E38 and was able to get it back. Anyone else loose this feature on the main menu?

I have disconnected the nav drive in the X5, but that did not do anything. I have yet to disconnect the battery, but that is next on my list of things to try.

Didn't lose the Aux Ventilation option from the Main Menu on the e39 M5. Have not updated the X tough pending further testing...

the odd thing, is just after upgrading it was there in the X5. Although missing the direct mode feature. I was screwing around with it and went to check out the E38. When I noticed it was gone I put the key back in the X and it had dissapeared. Pretty wacky.

After pulling the negative cable I got it to come back in the E38. I was going to let the X sit for a while prior to turning it back on.

By the way, I would like to get the BMW logo back up on startup. I know someone was messing with this before http://www.bimmerboard.com/forums/posts/138933 but file he mentioned is only found in the MKII and MKIII directories of the prior OS disks and not this patch. Anyone have an idea where to look to change the logos in the MKIV sofware. I am sure it is a file in this patch as it was overwritten by the OS version number

I lost AUX ventilation on the X5, but I still have it on the E38. Would I be able to get AUX ventilation back if I go to my stealer and ask them to reprogram the car for US mode?

Hello;
I'm new in this forum.
I downloaded the file but still have some concerns with the supported languages.
I'm from Germany. An on the photos (during the documented update) I could only see English (GB and US) and French language support.

Does anybody from Germany already did the update successfully?

Regards from Germany.
