because of these paranoid statements i checked my navy now over many kilometers. the cpu-temperature was on 25km never over 52°C. I checked with a range of 50km in perspective(Birdview)-Mode (displaying changes very slow, CPU is working hard) and the DVD-player is only running, when a new target was defined.
i will keep V26.09 an have no concerns about my hardware. |

I think everybody is getting a little bit too scared
![]() Let´s resume all facts we have: 1: birdview is possible ![]() 2: The birdview "update" is older than the original V26 because: - somebody posted the build - some features get lost that were definately new with the V26 (automatical rerouting...) 3: nobody had a crash of the system till now - and when the software striked an update to the official V26 helped 4: When we update to the official V26 the birdview keeps working - and the official version killed no navi-system. Unfortunately the view gets lost after a change of the view. ![]() 5: with the official V26 and birdview everything else works perfect ![]() 6: Somwhere in the CD structure of the official V26 is the "path" to the birdview available - but turned of by BMW. ![]() So in conclusion there should be (theoretically) the possibility to create a "cracked" official V26 CD where the menue of switching between the 3 possible views is possible. The only thing we need is somebody who understands enough of the IT things (additionally this quiet inteligent guy (or lady) should then also find the security thing that keeps us away from using our own splashscreen)So in principle: Please MTV, pimp my MK4.... ![]() Minister (Keeping the Birdview after updating again to the official V26) @ HenryH: Since you already made the efforts to open you MK4 and taping a sensor on the CPU: is there a theoretical possibility to replace the CPU with a faster one or replace the ram with a bigger one (it should normaly use industrial standard components) - then the Birdview could run really smooth

I was one of the first to load the V26.09A and so far it's been every bit as stable for me as V26.
Now that the team has successfully hacked the splash screen the next task is to do exactly what you suggest, which is to hack V26 to enable the "Perspective" mode. There's a separate thread created to work on this effort. See http://www.xoutpost.com/navigation-sy...-v26-code.html Jeff Quote:

Unless we can say as a fact that a particular MKIV SW/HW, or part number is directly affected when running Perspective, we simply cannot say that it is "perfect" for all MKIVs for the sake of this effort. In my opinion, we need more testing done to find out what's really going on with this Perspective before further modifications to this unstable code.
