Hmm. I swear I had left the car parked for at least 20 minutes. Oh well, I will check again tomorrow.

Sorry. Once you unlock the car the Nav computer is in bootup mode and loading the OS. You have to give it a few seconds ~10secs and then open the door, it should appear then.

Do not immediately turn to ignition 1 or 2 after unlocking and opening door it will go straight to Map or Menu.

This is truly too cool!

Does anyone know where to get (or do you have) the BMW font used to write the model designations, ie. M5, X5, 4.4i, 540i, etc, etc... I've been searching but can't find anything. Imagine the possibilities...

Ok, some more interesting stuff. I let the car sit for about an hour. I did as you said by unlocking the door and waiting a few seconds. I opened the door, and still nothing. I put the key in and switched it to the first position. It went straight to the menu or map.

I went ahead and pulled fuse #7. After that, then the splash screen came back up. I wonder what's going on? My splash screen is about 29K, and it displays just fine. The rest of the system seems to be working as well. Any ideas?

Try loading the original unmodified navboot file on V26. That should bring back the ==BMW== splash. And see what happens. I can only hint at the possible size of the image file.

Also, reading on the BMW Treff forums that V26.09a is bad for Nav units. It apparently destroys the majority of them. I would try to get the Nav unit recoded since your system has been flashed to V26.09a once already.

Yes, read about the patch destroying NAV units as well. I went ahead and downgraded to V25, then back up to V26 with a modified splash screen. I'll try and make an appointment with my SA for Friday. Hopefully he'll recode the car for free.

Can anyone help me out? I currently have v26 and I want to upgrade to a new splash screen but I have no idea how to do so. PM me if you're interested in making a small splash graphic for me and posting the correct image file? Monetary payment will be provided.

Good News, Bad News

So far all of my screens have been <20kb, I created a 48kb animated gif:

Name: X5 World Animated Splash Screen.gif
Views: 946
Size: 42.3 KB

and though it loaded, OS-9 would not animate it. Bad news for animation (limited to 1 frame), good news for larger hi-res graphics on the nav.
