New version of V26 hacked with toggle for Pointing North
The latest version of the hacked V26 has been updated. Below is the concept.
The button for Travel Direction toggles between the options Travel Direction and Pointing North. I just uploaded, to http://www.xoutpost.com/members/ambishop/ as navboot-toggle.zip. Just drop this navboot file in your V26 image just like you did with the previous version under the proper directory. ---- I have not testing this personally as as I am messing with trying to figure out why my aux input will not work on my carpc. I have the Aux option as an option, but it dissapears after a short usage. My aux is setup on a homemade harness with 3x 100KOhm resistors in series, between right and left channels, and a .22 uF Polyester Film Capacitor inline between the aux connector and radio. The resistor is closest to the audio jack. Does anyone have a BMW version that I can look at to see how they do it? as I am using the wiring diagram on the last page here http://www.bmwmotorsports.org/pdf/BM...stallation.pdf I assume the reference to a 0,22 cap is 0.22 in "American English" Also does it matter that I have 3 100K Ohm resistors in series, or would the tolerance of 5% having three of these cause an issue? I am open to any ideas as this is driving me crazy. I have been messing with it for too long. Maybe I should jsut buy the BMW part.... Martin Last edited by ambishop; 02-22-2006 at 05:23 PM. |

The MINI's are notorious for doing this. It appears that there is a grounding problem with the AUX connector mode on the head unit that causes the problem. My AUX input was doing the EXACT same thing (i.e. disappearing as an option/mode from the head unit) until I installed a simple ground loop isolator. I picked the isolator up from RadioShack for $16.99 (part number 270-054) and wired it inline with the AUX input. Once the isolator was installed, I never had the problem again. BTW, on my car I could also temporarily work around the problem of the Aux mode disappearing from the head unit by simply not inserting my audio device's connector all the way into AUX input. Weird... I hope this helps some. -- MIKE |

Sorry this thread is taking on a new life....
thanks! That makes perfect sense. I am sure I have one of those around here somewhere. I am pulling my hair out with it, and just ordered a BMW Aux input cable to swap out. Martin |

Pictures of the system in action.
http://www.bimmerboard.com/forums/posts/164175 Supports the ability to map direction from pointing in direction of travel to pointing North, by selecting Item for Travel Direction Worked great for me, but use this and any other hacked BMW software at your own risk martin www.bimmernav.com |

Hi Ambishop,
Just a small question: why has the original V26 300MB and the hacked only 70MB? Could there be something left? Greetz, Minister |

@ programmers:
Is it possible to add "Perspective" mode in the menu to have all three options at once ("Direction of travel", "Face North" and "Perpective") without toggle between split screen and full screen? Or is it a thing that I would never have again, like in version V26.09A? It would be more simple to choose any of these modes without the toggle trick. Thanks a lot to all who works on this project to make it possible! |

Check this out!
Today I helped someone upgrade thie Nav computer to V26 Perspective and It DID NOT CHANGE to LOOSE the USE settings. He was origially at v12. Seriously. Anyway, I put in v24.1, rebooted, then put in v26.09 rebotted then V26 Perspective mode and THE MKIV STAYED IN US MODE! I was really suprised, as every one up by software installs were UPGRADES. Since I never went back a level I never lost the settings. I was really impressed, as I had no idea that you could have v26.09 WITH perspective and be in US mode without it being recoded. Anyway, I thought that I would share. US coded from V12 to v24.1 to v26.09 to v26 Perspective HACK kept it in US mode. I am liking this Perspective mode hack a lot better than the buggy v26.09, every time I use the thing Martin www.bimmernav.com |

Correct. I did not change any of the other files, so I left them out. since this is ONLY for the Ibus MKIV no other firmware is in the image.
Anyone like the toggle version over the Perspective version? HOW ABOUT THE TOGGLE PERSPECTIVE VERSION FROM POINTING NORTH TO DIRECTION OF TRAVEL. NOBODY HAS SAID A WORD ABOUT THAT ONE? --sorry for the caps ~:-> Quote:
