Here is a little tip I use and its only because BMW charge so much for each version that I do the following.

Go down to a dealer try not to use the same one every time Take the BMW model you have for a test drive make sure you request one with SAT NAV also make sure you have your laptop with you or drive the car back home or to your office take the DVD/CD out of the nav system burn a copy then put it back and return the car.
This only works if the car has the latest version maps and you get to take the car without the salesman. I know some of you may frown on this. But lets do the Math. To replace the old UBD or refedex depends on what state your from in AUS would cost around $30 - $40 per year. To replace the NAV maps from BMW cost $300+ I would be more than happy even if it cost me $100 a year to but it but $300 a year thats a little rich.

Buffboy,

Just read another thread of yours, you need the red CD (not DVD), both DVD formats of green and purple will not work in your car. Your local dealer can supply V14 or you can wait until next year and get V15. However there have been a few V14s for sale on Ebay Australia of late.

disclaimer: only get duplicates if you own the original and it has been damaged beyond repair. Or if your dodgy dealer decides to do a disc swap on you, where you are left with a copy while they hawk your original.

What is the latest version of the Australian maps these days?

There is an eBay seller selling a "V19" disc....

I've got V19 2013 HIGH CD in my 2006 e53 X5, put it in a burn't copy a couple of days ago.
That eBay seller wants to rip off $150 as a starting bid!
I don't think it's genuine BMW, as he's saying local pick up only unless you contact him, I'm guessing so you're forced to pay by another method.
