You can determine map type by analyzing second line in 'bibliography' file:
DB-REL - standard
DB-CA-REL - C-IQ
DB-NGN-REL - NGN
How does that relate to this Australia v13 HIGH map from BMW:

Code:
CD-ID 17334
DB-REL 33
BSW-REL 91.0 91.1 92.5 92.7 92.8 93.0 93.1 93.3 93.6 94.0 94.3 95.3 95.6 95.7 95.8
BSW-REL 96.0 96.1 96.2 97.0 98 10 11

BSW-REL 96.0 96.1 96.2 97.0 98 10 11
This map will work in Mk2/3/4 and 'standard' VDO systems, after carindb modification it will work in VDO NGN.

Clearly this is a non-C-IQ and a non-NGN, ie a 'standard' map.

BMW is standard system
Your Mazda has a NGN system

Not directly compatible with each other

Unless you are a software wizard like Nomad, and can analyse and change the CARINDB file content......

Thanks for the help guys - a bit of fun while it lasted, and I created 1 coaster.

Might be cheaper to spend the $$ on V15 when it comes out in 2 months - I don't think I could provide nomad with enough beer to "unpick" the NGN file and convert it to BMW....

Hi Guys,

I have an X5 with a MK3 and was looking to get the current version 14 of the WhereIs maps from the http://poweredby.whereis.com//shop/W...ine-Store.html website. I believe the Mk3 uses the VDO Dayton maps but sales are suspended until version 15 becomes available. Anyone know when V15 is due out or why the V14 are suspended? Is there another of the V14 maps available that can be used in the MK3 or anyone know where I can get a current map that works in the MK3 until the V15 goes on sale? Thanks.

I bought V14 for the MkIII (red CD) about 2 months ago and was told that one of the other types was suspended. Version V15 is not due out for about 10 months.

I have found a few errors in V14 so I reported them to BMW via their web site and they were excellent. I had the Australian Technical director email me to say they would investigate it and then a few weeks later I had a customer service operator call and he went through each of the errors I reported and told me when they would be fixed.

One anomaly was going to be fixed for V15 and the other two for V16. Full marks to BMW on the feedback.

Great feedback from BMW.. but fix the other two in V16 ? That's pretty poor service considering V 16 won't be released for close to 2 years ? Got my wife a Mercedes B class the other day and the nav in that is far superior to my X5's -> The new nav systems better be better !!
