Question from a nerves mind.
I have this navigation computer; I believe it is a MKIV.  The software that came with it says: Road Map Europe high 2004-1. My brother has a CD with 2006 software and that works fine in my system too. My only complaint about the system is that it dos not show detailed maps on the screen only an arrow that point the direction.  Is it possible to upgrade to detailed maps by using the DVD Version 2008-1? According to this post my Nav OS is V22 or V22.1.  I have downloaded the firmware upgrade from this post and successfully burned it to a CD, but I haven’t had the nerve to run it, can any body confirm for me that this will not harm my system? I also acquired the map software, burned it to a DVD, but it dos not work, do anyone know if the firmware upgrade makes it possible to use the 2008 map or if it is suppose to work without the upgrade?

Hi,
E46 I supose? It's the firmware, If you burned the firmware V31 correctly there is no harm. It's software and software can not affect the hardware. So if the process failed you can always try again with an older firmware version. Suc6! M@x

Sure, but 2008-1 is the map disc, not the operating system software. Using a new map disc is like purchasing this years paper map: it will be more up-to-date than last years map Your nav operating system software is version 4-1/20 released in 2003 Current valid nav version is v4-1/(1)0.0 released March 2008 (displayed as 4-1/00, because the leading '1' cannot be shown). This is 8 versions newer. It is extremely easy to download the new software, burn a CD, insert the CD and update the current software to the latest version. You will get new features, and have lots of bugs fixed. The new version 4-1/00 is available on the OS disc V31, which can be found on the internet for download. Quote:
