TV Display on the run

Hi,

I´m new in the X5 family. Very happy of joining you.

As a newbee I have many questions to arise, but I will start with one that make my children so unhappy.

Can I avoid the blanking of the TV screen when driving?

I know that this could be even illegal, but I would like to know how to do that just for research purposes........ you know.

Thanks in advance

contact Pareg at www.TVonNAV.com and they will supply you with a TV In Motion Module that you can easily plug and play on to your oem Tv module. This module also lets you control tv functions from you steering wheel buttons.I got mine for usd 199.00
and also got the AV Harness cable which provides you with Video/Audio inputs/outputs for a Dvd player,PS2,Camera, etc(very usefull!) .This is also plug and play. For more info check UCrewsX5 excellent article....http://www.xoutpost.com/articles.php?...ticle&artid=30

Thanks for the info.

Actually I was looking for something simple that I could do like unpluging a wire. The point is that the TV screen blanks when the car speed is not zero, which means that the TV set is getting info from the speedometer. Just cancelling the conection beteen TV and speed data could do (I believe).

If somebody has a hint I would be grateful.

It would be great if it were that simple, but it's not. You have to intercept the i-bus signal and replace it with a signal that tells the video module that you are still below the threshold speed. That's what the TVonNav module does.

Think you can invent a better mouse trap? Go for it

I'm getting there myself soon. I ordered the latest BMW OEM TV module out of BMW AG (i have an importer order it for me) and i'm running into the same problem. I called NAV TV and they want 400$ to hack the module for in motion. BASTARDS!!!!! I tried to get my local dealer talk to the FSE (Field Service Engineer) and maybe talk him into getting the in motion working, but no dice, they wont do it....so my last solution is using the TV ON NAV solution...200$ it sounds like....
