Don't you worry, I'm into this update-business for far more than a year ... And just because a few of you guys are not capable of doing the update right it does not automatically mean it does not work in general.

Before telling the people such nonsense please go to your dealer and get the original firmware CDs and try again. You'll see that updating the MK3 with an orginal (or properly written) v26 works like a charm. Or v25. Or v24.

Most of the unsuccessful update attempts went wrong because of the wrong CD-R type (color matters) and - more often - the CD has been written too quickly (4x should be max, better go for 1x or 2x speed) or because the people don't pay attention to the recommended procedure for updating...

You can update ANY MKx with any v2x-version!

Yes i already told him to do so. waiting for an sms back, it will take some days before he replies me back!

And general question: what cdr type/color do you suggest for burning update onto ?

And have you tried using daemon tools instead alcohol 120% ?

After all its free and then after mounting image with it burning with nero

I've made the best experiences with Verbatim Audio CDRs, silver color
Yes, Nero would be also fine (simply rename the file to .iso)
But go with low writing speed!

I've seen both: Updating an old version with v26 (so real update to 3-1/63 took place) and also inserting the v26 into an already 3-1/63-MK3 where nothing gets updated.

Ok, cool! Can you tell me what dvdr media would you suggest so i can burn navteq map to ? Or we can use any? and also is there also necessary the burning speed adjustment like we need for cdrs for OS update ?

Or just cdrs are necessary for update (the color/type) and dvdrs not for navteq maps ?

And also what about cdrs for burning navteq maps?

Thanks!

Please do not copy the map-cds/dvds because it's copyrighted material. Always use the original stuff!

Just done the upgrade to v26 worked easily and quickly. My recorder only offered 4 times so did it on that speed. Next to try, now I have a base version to go back to, is 3d and my own logo?

Thanks
John
