Morning all, I've been directed to this site as the internet experts on BMW Sat Nav - so thanks in advance for any help!

I have a 2002 BMW e39 530i auto with the widescreen nav / tv.
I don't know model name he satnav is know as, but it is this one:
ToysInYourCar.com - 16:9 Widescreen - 5 E39 7 E38

The issue is that the screen has stopped working. It was all working fine until it 'flickered' off a couple of times before coming back on again. Now it remains off, a black screen. It did come on half way through my journey for a few seconds before going blank again. Since then, nothing.

The unit itslef still works. The orange LED still comes on, the radio still works and I've heard the charming satnav voice in the background - just no screen.

So, any ideas? Hope it's not 'new unit' time. I'm not that technical but it feels like a loose connection or simply the the back light to the screen has packed up?

Any thoughts / ideas / things to try and test most welcome before I surrender by credit card to a specialist.
