Well - fitted original factory harness because i'm stubborn and didnt feel like waiting. Job well done.. just didnt have time to fix things like the bluetooth. It also came with tv module cables so had to run the video to the mk4. Everything working including my dice ipod which wasn't working before. Actually - the one thing that isn't working is the DSP setup. But i'll tackle that when i tackle the bluetooth.
So yes - i sould have got the retrofit loom new. Would have been worth it. hind sight is 20/20. So (i know, so don't tell me"you wouldn't have any problems if you bought the retrofit loom" - ok Meister.. go ahead and say it once) - my ignorant question now is what do i need to get the DSP working. I know once i get this working my ipod won't work. So i can live without that for a while. So more importantly - the telephone, oh 1 other thing - voice of nav.. i upgraded to v32 and selected female voice. My splash screen is the one attached and i have the NY skyline.. loving it. Will post pics. So questions in order of importance / fix: 1. Bluetooth and telephone module (not even an option on nav screen - is this because no DSP? I think i saw DSP before when turning on after upgrading version but i did a few other things after that) 2. Voice of Navigation 3. DSP for amp and sub. currently not hooked up. installer said it was missing the parts on my loom. Also thinking going custom.. maybe this is my excuse. for now i don't blast my music. |

So check the power, ground and ibus connections on the TCU. Using your wiring diagram, check that the voice cables are correctly hooked up to the VM (if old gen) or to the radio module (if new gen). You can test the voice output by changing the nav volume in settings, you should hear "louder" "quieter" etc If your loom was a non-DSP loom, then your DSP won't work until you change the loom. DSP is cable differently and has 3 x connectors to the amplifier, non-DSP has 2 x connectors. Again, if DSP exists and is alive and taling, it automatically appears on the nav menu. |

Yeah - Paid someone to do it. LOL. Good thing to because I realized I couldn't have. I wish i would have spent more time figuring out what the harness was i was buying. I read all this info after - not for lack of looking.. just happened that way.
So DSP was working I'm sure I saw it on the Nav menu. Not sure how - and if this is the DSP harness but I'll be in the trunk tonight and i'll see if i can take some pictures so you can help me out.. cuz i'm sure you can LOL. |

Thanks! I popped the trunk and got in there again tonight. I tried to connect the bluetooth module but no luck - power wouldn't come on when connected. I think the black connector that fit the module was actually for the amp though. I'm living the nightmare you told me i would Meister LOL - retrofit harness.. should have.. should have.
So I updated my radio today and my sirius that was working before with my business CD isn't working. Do i need a different unit? The seller said the modules he sells are all sirius and ipod / aux compatible. This module was dated 03 build date and labeled Harmon / Becker audio group. Thoughts? 1. bluetooth still not working. 2. Sirius module not working after upgrading the BM53 module. 3. The amp / sub, thinking of going aftermarket.. I was never really impressed with DSP and being able to set things so i might not make it a major issue. Thinking aftermarket amp/sub like others have done. help with #1 and #2 anyone? Info on what anyone knows about sirius module and nav. Connector to bluetooth module in trunk:

Hey don't beat yourself up. The real fun will come when the lease ends and you have to return the car to stock!
2. I don't recall which radios were Sirius compatible, but an 03 production just might not be. Do you have the p/n of it so that we can check? |
